ES. Since the early 1990s, what key milestones have defined your journey from fabrication to executing large-scale infrastructure projects?

Jatinder Chugh. My journey has been built on strong engineering fundamentals and hands-on experience. Starting with fabrication in the early 1990s, we gradually expanded into executing complex, large-scale structural projects. A key milestone was transitioning from traditional fabrication to delivering high-performance, engineered solutions. Over time, our focus evolved from simply building structures to building reliability and trust across industries.

ES. In light of recent incidents, how critical is structural integrity in event and exhibition infrastructure, and where does the industry still need to improve?

Jatinder Chugh. Structural integrity is absolutely critical, especially in event infrastructure where public safety is involved. Unfortunately, the industry at times prioritises speed and cost over engineering discipline. Every structure must adhere to proper design, material, and installation standards. There is a clear need for stricter compliance, greater awareness, and a shift towards certified engineering practices.

ES. FAB India has evolved from portable structures to large-scale infrastructure, what key strategies helped you scale operations?

Jatinder Chugh. The most important strategy was continuously evolving with the industry and adapting to the tailored requirements of our customers. We moved from basic fabrication to engineered solutions by investing in advanced technology, skilled manpower, and modern manufacturing facilities. Maintaining strict quality standards and ensuring timely delivery also helped us build long-term client trust. Additionally, we diversified from temporary structures into permanent infrastructure, enabling us to take on larger and more complex projects. Scaling was not just about size, it was about enhancing our engineering capabilities and execution standards at every level. Today, we are among the few manufacturers in India offering a wide range of hanger structures from 6 metres to 60 metres in clear span, and we take pride in this achievement.

ES. What is your vision for the future of event infrastructure in India in terms of safety, innovation, and global standards?

Jatinder Chugh. I believe India has the potential to become a global leader in event infrastructure if we prioritise engineering, innovation, and quality. As projects continue to grow in scale, strict adherence to engineering standards and certified systems is essential. The future lies in modular, sustainable, and technologically advanced structures. Most importantly, the industry must shift from cost-driven decisions to quality-driven execution to truly meet global benchmarks.
