ES. What strategies do you employ to promote BIEC’s exhibitions to potential exhibitors and attendees, both nationally and internationally?

Ubaid Ahmad. At BIEC, we recognize that the true success of an exhibition is not just measured by footfall but by the quality of visitors and the business opportunities they generate. Our approach goes beyond numbers — we focus on targeted outreach, strategic partnerships, and a global presence to maximize engagement for exhibitors and attendees alike.

Tailored Support for Exhibition Organizers: BIEC works closely with event organizers to provide customized services that help attract high-value visitors. A prime example is the latest edition of IMTEX held in January 2025, which achieved remarkable success due to precisely executed promotional strategies and industry-focused outreach. Strategic Partnerships & Global Presence: BIEC collaborates with prestigious exhibition and event bodies such as UFI, ICCA, EEMA, and IEIA, strengthening its influence across international networks. These alliances enable BIEC to amplify its reach, foster meaningful relationships, and position itself as a top-tier venue for global exhibitions.

Additionally, our active participation in international trade fairs, national business summits, and industry forums ensures that BIEC remains at the forefront of the global exhibition landscape. By continuously engaging with key stakeholders worldwide, we create new opportunities, attract world-class events, and solidify our reputation as India’s premier exhibition destination. Through these dynamic strategies, BIEC continues to set new benchmarks in the exhibition industry, offering an unparalleled platform for exhibitors and attendees to connect, innovate, and thrive.

ES. The exhibition industry is constantly evolving. What marketing trends are you currently seeing in the exhibition and events space, and how does BIEC stay ahead of these trends?

Ubaid Ahmad. The exhibition industry is undergoing a dynamic transformation, with new trends reshaping how events are marketed, experienced, and executed. At BIEC, we stay ahead of these shifts by embracing cutting-edge technologies, data-driven insights, and sustainable solutions to create impactful and future-ready exhibitions. Precision-Driven Audience Engagement: Gone are the days of mass marketing — targeted outreach is now the key to attracting high-value business visitors. For our flagship event, IMTEX, BIEC leverages AI-powered analytics to understand attendee behaviour, interests, and business goals. By harnessing these insights, we ensure that every event at BIEC attracts a quality-driven audience, fostering more meaningful interactions and business opportunities.

The future of exhibitions is tech-enabled and experience-driven event management: BIEC has developed in-house software, Expo Planner, an AI-powered collaboration platform designed to streamline communication and operations for exhibitors, visitors, and stakeholders through a centralized dashboard. It offers advanced features such as AI-driven matchmaking, meeting schedulers, online exhibitor services, lead generation tools, interactive floor plans, real-time footfall analysis, and both online and onsite registration modules with kiosks, all seamlessly integrated into a mobile app for enhanced engagement. The Expo Planner was successfully tested at IMTEX FORMING 2024, Pune Machine Tool Expo, FACTEQ 2024, and IMTEX 2025. It empowers show organizers to host seamless, efficient, and hassle-free exhibitions and events.

ES. What would be BIEC’s marketing strategy over the next few years? Are there any new initiatives you plan to implement?

Ubaid Ahmad. An important current and futuristic trend defining the exhibition industry landscape is the adoption of sustainable initiatives and green innovations. BIEC has been constantly focusing on promoting this since its inception by working with various channel partners to create an environmentally safe venue for show organizers to hold exhibitions and events. Advancing eco-friendly practices such as solar energy solutions, waste reduction initiatives, reusing and recycling materials within the production chain (e.g. use of fly ash in the construction process), and creation of sustainable booth designs to align with global green event standards will continue.

The adoption and use of smart technology to deploy IoT devices to monitor energy and resource usage in real time will be explored. Additionally, it will strive to enhance its digital presence by implementing AI-powered matchmaking for immersive event experiences, and increased use of smart networking tools to create seamless and tech-enabled exhibitions. Partnering with organizations that focus on sustainability in the exhibitions and events industry space where expertise and resources can be shared will also be looked upon. BIEC will endeavor to expand its global presence to improve exhibitor and visitor experience by strengthening partnerships with UFI, ICCA, EEMA, and IEIA. Meanwhile, to improve the visitor experience it will continue to work closely with the government for any infrastructure upgrades for better connectivity to the venue.
