The Sixth International Agronomy Congress (IAC-2025) begins today in New Delhi, bringing together experts, policymakers, scientists, and industry stakeholders from India and around the world. Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurates the event, marking the official opening of the three-day global gathering. More than 1,000 delegates are participating in the congress, representing agricultural universities, research organizations, international institutions, agri-business leaders, and young researchers.

The congress is taking place from 24 to 26 November under the theme “Re-envisioning Agronomy for Smart Agro-Food Systems and Environmental Protection.” The theme reflects the ongoing need to reshape global agriculture with a focus on climate resilience, digital transformation, nutritional security, and environmentally responsible farming practices. The event is serving as a collaborative platform to address current challenges and exchange emerging solutions for future-ready food systems.

Throughout the event, experts are delivering plenary sessions, thematic symposia, and lead lectures on priority subjects in agronomy. Poster presentations from researchers across the world are showcasing new scientific developments, while an exhibition zone is highlighting innovations in agri-technology, input management, and automation. A special Young Scientists and Students’ Conference is also underway to encourage research leadership and scientific engagement among the next generation.

Discussions during the congress are focusing on key areas including precision agriculture, soil health improvement, water conservation, climate-smart farming techniques, agro-ecology, integrated nutrient and pest management, digital agriculture, and agri-business models for sustainable livelihoods. The role of women and youth in shaping the future of agriculture is also receiving strong attention.

The ongoing congress is strengthening India’s position in global agricultural transformation and supporting national and international goals for food security and climate action. The event is organised jointly by the Indian Society of Agronomy in collaboration with ICAR, IARI, and NAAS.
