s CES 2026 took place in Las Vegas from Jan. 6-9, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® has announced its intent to award $125,000 in support of two major City of Las Vegas sustainability projects through the CES® 2026 Green Grants program. Since its inception, the Green Grants Program has contributed nearly $1 million to sustainability initiatives throughout Southern Nevada, supporting projects ranging from solar installations to food rescue expansion, urban forestry and more. Split evenly between the initiatives, the grants underscore CTA’s long-standing commitment to environmental innovation and to giving back to the community that hosts CES each year. CTA Executive Chair and CEO Gary Shapiro and CTA President Kinsey Fabrizio, along with Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley and local leaders, announced the grants during a press conference and ribbon cutting ceremony marking the completion of the $600 million renovation of the Las Vegas Convention Center’s (LVCC) legacy campus and start of CES. This year’s funding will support two priority projects championed by the Mayor of Las Vegas:
Citywide Tree Planting Initiative: Part of the city’s goal to plant 60,000 trees to reduce urban heat, expand shade coverage, and improve long-term resilience. Trees cost approximately $15–$20 each, depending on size.
Energy-Efficient Streetlight Upgrades: A citywide effort to replace high-energy streetlights with modern, low-energy LED fixtures to significantly reduce municipal power consumption and improve nighttime visibility.
The projects complement Las Vegas’s broader sustainability strategy and prove how collaboration among local governments, community partners, and the tech industry can deliver practical, scalable solutions.
