Sydney has officially been confirmed as the host city for the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) 2027, Australia’s largest annual travel and tourism business-to-business event, reinforcing the country’s long-term strategy for strengthening inbound tourism, international market engagement, and global industry partnerships. The announcement was made by Tourism Australia in partnership with Destination NSW and the New South Wales Government following the successful conclusion of ATE 2026 in Adelaide.

ATE 2027 will bring together international travel buyers, tourism wholesalers, media representatives, and Australian tourism operators from across the country to conduct pre-scheduled business appointments, destination showcases, networking sessions, and familiarisation programs. The event is expected to once again attract more than 2,900 delegates from over 32 countries, further strengthening Australia’s position as one of the world’s leading tourism destinations. ATE 2027 will take place at the International Convention Centre Sydney from May 16-20, 2027.

Organised by Tourism Australia in collaboration with Destination NSW, the event will showcase Sydney and regional New South Wales to international buyers during a major growth phase for the state’s tourism economy. The hosting announcement aligns with several major infrastructure and tourism developments, including the opening of Western Sydney International Airport later this year and Australia’s preparations for the Rugby World Cup 2027.

According to Tourism Australia, ATE has been running for nearly five decades and continues to serve as the country’s most significant tourism trade platform, generating long-term business opportunities and strengthening relationships between Australian tourism operators and global travel markets. Robin Mack, Managing Director of Tourism Australia, stated that the event plays a critical role in creating sustainable tourism growth by connecting Australia’s tourism experiences with international distribution partners through face-to-face business engagement.

The event is also expected to deliver major economic and promotional benefits for Sydney and regional NSW by highlighting diverse tourism offerings ranging from iconic city attractions and luxury hospitality to wine regions, coastal tourism, Indigenous experiences, adventure travel, and nature-based destinations. Industry experts believe the return of ATE to Sydney will further accelerate inbound visitor growth, business events activity, and global tourism investment across Australia.
