Events Industry Council announces 2020 board and commission leadership



The Events Industry Council announced leadership appointments for its board of directors and CMP Governance Commission, effective 1 January 2020.

“Our incoming and reappointed board and commission members are accomplished leaders who bring diverse perspectives, insights and experiences that will elevate our organisation’s efforts in championing the global events industry,” said EIC’s chief executive, Amy Calvert.

Board officers and directors are nominated by the membership which is comprised of more than 30 organisations in the events industry. Collectively, board members serve as the council’s governing body, hold fiscal responsibility and provide strategic direction for its programmes and services.

The 2020 officers are:

Tina Wehmeir, CMP, CAE (immediate past chair), AMC Institute

The 2020 directors are:

Steve Bova, CAE, Financial and Insurance Conference Professionals
Cathy Breden, CMP, CAE, International Association of Exhibitions and Events

Didier Scaillet, CIS, CITP, Society for Incentive Travel Excellence

As the governing body of the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) credential, the Events Industry Council also appoints top professionals to its CMP Governance Commission. The commission includes organiser and supplier representatives from across the events industry.

Calvert adds, “The Certified Meeting Professional continues to be the most important credential for recognising and maintaining a high level of experience and knowledge among event organisers. We are fortunate to have such a talented group of individuals to advance and promote the standards of excellence attributed to those who hold the CMP.”
