ES. Could you please provide us with more information about your organization, its inception, history, and products?

Navneet Mehta. It is a story biased towards action. It’s a story of following the gut and intuition rather than strategic analytics or data. It’s a story of love, courage and togetherness when you fight with limited resources—the story which could have only been played at Moradabad. My father and his brothers started KN Trophies… They remain bonded together even today. There was no board room discussion or survey. It was pure gut. Another part is that I wish you knew that Moradabad is India’s brass capital. India’s famous trophy manufacturing company must be from Moradabad.

ES. With each role, come different responsibilities, how do you minimize your role conflict and time pressures that lead to daily stress and strain?

Navneet Mehta. Ideologies, prioritization, networking and focus on goal has helped me to date to face new challenges at every stage of my business growth. As you grow, you have an impossible number of things to do and need more time. We reach a situation where far too many tasks can be done in a day. I have experienced grouping tasks together that fall in the same category – Chunking work together and prioritizing helps to manage the situation. Delegate tasks that don’t get you closer to the goal. Eliminate distractions.

You get to learn a lot from others. I take very active interest in other businesses and try to learn from.

ES. How do you see the trophy industry evolve in recent times? What trends do you see emerging in the industry?

Navneet Mehta. I see the demand for trophies growing massively. There are reasons to it. A trophy is an acknowledgement of a championship mind-set. Champions get it. We are reaching a generation where the definition of champions has multiplied. Every niche is identifying its champions. Like awards for best marketer breaks down today to best digital marketer, best copywriter, best creative, best marketer by analytics and so on. We have become a more democratic society vs an autocratic one. So earlier, you get awarded only when you win. Earlier, as parents, we praised kids when he stood first in class. Today we praise them even though he ranked 13th because he improved from 15th. This is happening in the corporate world as well. Managers appreciate and are democratic and appreciate small achievements. So today you get awarded over the journey, like an award for attempting, an award for innovating and so on. The number of sports events has multiplied. India as a country is winning the Olympics. This means the number of domestic sports events and awards has grown massively.
