The inaugural Aqua North East Expo 2026 is set to take place from September 17–19, 2026 at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre in Guwahati, positioning itself as a key platform to drive growth, innovation, and investment in the aquaculture sector across Northeast India.
Building on the success of the Aqua North East Summit 2025, the expo is designed as a comprehensive industry marketplace, bringing together companies, technology providers, startups, government bodies, and key stakeholders. The initiative aims to unlock the region’s vast potential, as Northeast India continues to emerge as a significant aquaculture hub driven by high fish consumption and increasing development focus.
The event is supported by leading institutions including the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) and the Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCC&I), along with active participation from fisheries departments across Northeastern states. It is being organised by Aqua Doctor Solutions Pvt Ltd, led by Dr. Debtanu Barman, in association with Fishery.News, founded by Induvardhan Reddy Putana.
Spanning three days, the expo will feature specialised segments such as an Ornamental Aquaculture Pavilion, a Startup & Innovation Pavilion, and an Industry Conference & Knowledge Summit, offering a comprehensive mix of exhibitions, expert discussions, and networking opportunities.
The initiative follows the strong momentum generated by the Aqua North East Summit 2025, which brought together policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, technology providers, startups, cooperatives, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and progressive farmers from across the region.
Key discussions at the summit addressed critical sector challenges, including productivity gaps, limited adoption of scientific practices, weak market linkages, value chain inefficiencies, and climate-related risks. Focus areas also included species diversification, cold-chain infrastructure development, adoption of AI and IoT technologies, sustainability, and financial inclusion through schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).
With Northeast India endowed with abundant water resources and a rapidly expanding market, stakeholders have emphasized the need for technology-driven approaches, stronger coordination, and increased investment to unlock the sector’s full potential. Aqua North East Expo 2026 is expected to play a pivotal role in enabling these outcomes by connecting regional capabilities with national and global aquaculture ecosystems.
