An acclaimed filmmaker, Gowariker brings with him decades of experience and a deep-rooted association with IFFI. His journey with the festival dates back to 1984, and over the years, he has remained closely connected, most recently serving as Jury President for International Cinema in 2024. His appointment reflects both continuity and a forward-looking vision for the festival’s growth.
Expressing his thoughts, Gowariker said he feels immense pride and joy in taking on this responsibility. He highlighted his long-standing relationship with the festival and acknowledged the legacy built since its inception in 1952. He also emphasised his commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Government of Goa to further strengthen the festival’s global standing.

The festival is jointly organised by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, along with the Entertainment Society of Goa and the Government of Goa.
Over the years, IFFI has evolved into a dynamic global platform featuring international competitions, country-focused showcases, masterclasses, tributes, and the renowned WAVES Film Bazaar. It continues to bring together established auteurs and emerging filmmakers, fostering collaboration and innovation.
Set against Goa’s vibrant coastal backdrop, the 57th edition promises to be an expansive celebration of storytelling, bringing together diverse languages, formats, and cinematic traditions from across the world.
