ICCA announces a landmark sustainability partnership with EarthCheck, revealed during the 64th ICCA Congress in Porto, Portugal. This collaboration strengthens ICCA’s commitment to embedding sustainability and measurable climate action within the global business events industry.
Under a two-year agreement, EarthCheck becomes ICCA’s sustainability partner, helping reduce environmental impact, promote best practices, and empower ICCA’s global network to take meaningful action. ICCA CEO Dr. Senthil Gopinath emphasized, “This partnership marks a defining moment for ICCA and the business events industry. Sustainability is fundamental to our operations, and by combining ICCA’s network with EarthCheck’s expertise, we empower our members to create positive outcomes for people, places, and the planet.”
To launch the partnership, EarthCheck will use its EventCalculator tool to measure the carbon footprint of the 2025 ICCA Congress in Porto, providing valuable data for ICCA’s long-term sustainability roadmap. EarthCheck CEO Stewart Moore stated, “Both ICCA and EarthCheck recognize that sustainability must be measurable, transparent, and actionable. This partnership equips the industry with the tools for credible, impactful action.”
The collaboration will include sustainability strategies, events, training, and communications, ensuring that sustainability is integrated into ICCA’s operations. ICCA members will also gain access to EarthCheck’s tools and certification support to advance their sustainability goals.
Together, ICCA and EarthCheck aim to accelerate progress in the global business events community, demonstrating how science-based frameworks and collective leadership can help the sector thrive in a low-carbon future.
