The 11th edition of the India Maize Summit will be held on May 15, 2025, at Federation House, Tansen Marg, New Delhi, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the summit brings together a cross-section of stakeholders involved in the maize sector, including policymakers, industry representatives, researchers, and farmers.
First launched in 2013, the India Maize Summit has served as a platform for examining the issues and opportunities surrounding maize production, trade, processing, and policy. Over the years, it has helped facilitate dialogue around improving maize productivity, promoting sustainable farming practices, and supporting the economic interests of maize growers.
The 2025 edition is expected to continue discussions on key topics such as climate-resilient agriculture, supply chain infrastructure, domestic and international market trends, and innovations in maize cultivation and processing. The summit typically includes technical sessions and panel discussions with input from government officials, agribusiness companies, academic experts, and farmer organizations.
Maize is the third most widely grown cereal crop in India after rice and wheat. It is used for multiple purposes including food, animal feed, industrial starch, and more recently, biofuel production. As consumption patterns and industrial demand shift, the summit provides an opportunity to assess how the sector can adapt through research, investment, and updated policy measures.
The event is also expected to address concerns around price volatility, input costs, procurement policies, and the integration of small and marginal farmers into broader market systems. Discussions will likely touch upon the role of private sector engagement and potential for exports in a global context.
Overall, the summit aims to take stock of the current state of maize cultivation and its associated industries, and to explore practical solutions that support the sector’s growth in a changing agricultural landscape.
