ES. Jess Ideas has grown from a traditional infrastructure company into a major force in experiential events and exhibitions. What key decisions shaped this transformation journey?
Bhavesh Thakker. Every era demands a different way of thinking.
When Jess Ideas was founded over five decades ago, success was measured by the ability to build dependable infrastructure. Today, infrastructure has evolved into something far more significant—it has become the medium through which brands communicate, governments engage, organisers inspire and audiences experience.
We recognised early that event infrastructure was no longer about building spaces. It was about building experiences.
That realisation fundamentally changed how we invested in the business.
Over the years, we have continuously strengthened our engineering capabilities, expanded our inventory, modernised our fabrication facilities and built one of the country’s most comprehensive execution ecosystems. At the same time, we have embraced technology as a core business discipline—making extensive use of Vectorworks for advanced design visualisation while integrating the generous use of *artificial intelligence* across planning, documentation, project coordination, knowledge management and operational decision-making.
Technology, however, is only as effective as the people behind it. Our greatest investment has always been in building highly capable teams that combine decades of execution experience with the curiosity and agility of a new generation.
We have never believed in waiting for the industry to evolve before we do. We believe in building tomorrow’s capabilities before tomorrow arrives
That philosophy has allowed Jess Ideas to remain at the forefront of India’s event infrastructure industry while continually redefining what clients can expect from a modern production partner.
ES. With geopolitical shifts and global supply-chain changes driving more international business toward India, how do you see the exhibition and live events industry evolving over the next few years?
Bhavesh Thakker. India stands at the beginning of what could become the most significant growth phase in its exhibition and live events history.
As global manufacturers, technology companies, healthcare leaders, defence organisations and international brands deepen their presence in India, exhibitions will increasingly become platforms for investment, innovation and international collaboration rather than simply marketing events.
This shift brings with it an entirely new set of expectations.
International organisers now expect Indian execution standards to rival the best in the world—not only in scale, but in engineering precision, design sophistication, sustainability, safety and operational excellence.
The next competitive advantage will not simply be larger inventories. It will be smarter systems.
The future belongs to organisations capable of integrating world-class design, engineering, digital planning, intelligent logistics and disciplined execution into a single seamless process.
We are also witnessing a fascinating evolution in design itself.
Exhibition environments are no longer created simply to look impressive—they are increasingly being designed to influence movement, communicate ideas, encourage interaction and create memorable experiences. Design has become a strategic communication tool.
Design is no longer decoration. Design is communication.
India has an extraordinary opportunity—not only to host world-class exhibitions, but to become globally recognised for creating world-class event infrastructure and production capabilities.
ES. Jess Ideas has delivered projects across concerts, sports, political events and MICE platforms. What capabilities help your team execute such large-scale projects with consistency and speed?
Bhavesh Thakker. Large-scale execution is often misunderstood.
People assume it is about working faster.
In reality, great execution is about eliminating uncertainty before execution ever begins.
Every successful project is the outcome of months of planning, engineering, coordination and disciplined preparation.
At Jess Ideas, design, engineering, fabrication, inventory management, logistics, transportation, installation and site operations function as one integrated ecosystem rather than independent departments. This allows every project to move from concept to completion with remarkable precision.
Detailed planning through Vectorworks, structured project management methodologies, intelligent inventory systems, modern fabrication techniques and rigorous quality processes ensure that every stakeholder is working from a single source of truth.
Alongside these systems sits our greatest strength—our people.
Our engineers, project managers, designers, supervisors and site teams carry decades of institutional knowledge while continually embracing new technologies and global best practices. Supported by continual investments in specialised equipment, premium inventory and modern infrastructure, they enable us to execute projects across multiple cities simultaneously without compromising quality or safety.
Execution is not an act of speed. It is the outcome of preparation.
ES. As India’s exhibition industry moves toward larger and more immersive experiences, what is your long-term vision for Jess Ideas in shaping the future of event infrastructure and experiential spaces?
Bhavesh Thakker. We believe the next decade will fundamentally redefine what temporary infrastructure can become.
The distinction between permanent architecture and temporary event environments will continue to narrow. Visitors will increasingly expect exhibition halls, concert venues and experiential spaces that feel architecturally refined, technologically intelligent and operationally seamless.
Temporary infrastructure is rapidly becoming a form of architecture.
Our vision is to help lead that transformation.
Jess Ideas will continue investing in global design methodologies, advanced engineering, intelligent inventory systems, sustainable materials, modern fabrication technologies and digital planning tools that allow organisers to dream bigger while executing with greater efficiency and confidence.
Equally important is our responsibility towards the industry itself.
As active members of EEMA, IESA, Exhibition Showcase and other leading industry platforms, we believe the future of India’s events ecosystem will be shaped through collaboration, shared knowledge and collectively raising standards across safety, design, engineering and execution.
Leadership, in our view, is not defined by the number of projects delivered.
Leadership is measured by the standards you leave behind for an industry.
If India’s event infrastructure ecosystem is recognised globally over the coming decade for quality, innovation, reliability and design excellence, we would like Jess Ideas to be remembered as one of the organisations that helped build that reputation.
Because while events may last only a few days, *the ideas, systems and infrastructure behind them shape an industry for generations.
